KEITH SAVAS INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER
Industrial Designer, Manager, Leader, Design Thinker
It is a great honor to work with an help motivate creative, smart, and energetic people reach beyond their known potential.

DESIGN THINKING & IDEATION
Design Thinking is a driving force in America's thriving economy. User Centered innovation is grown in the fertile soil of observation, quick learning, visualization, rapid prototyping and prototyping again. Add business intelligence and a well equipped design thinker to build a groundbreaking solution.
Please take a look at the early process ideation sketches and innovation focussed presentation drawings. This is the way Keith Savas, Industrial Designer handles a new product opportunity. The ideation sketch below is tool for a design staff to see potential and more opportunity. The new product development challenge is having true empathy for the user while working to
achieve corporate goals.

Ethnographic, Focus Group, Human Factors, Immersive, Competitive Product or more.
IT TAKES A LITTLE RESEACH

Design Thinking as seen in Presentation Drawings, Ideation Sketches
Before the term Design Thinking was coined, I called it Product Think. The expansion of design thinking is taking product think into environments, services and addressing complex and thorny problems. This page is an example of how products, environment or services begin to be to be formed and organized in a designer's mind.

OMB (ORBITAL MOBILITY BASE)
A 14' Diameter Full Size Mock Up
The Foam Core, Styrene and Aluminum mock -up was envisioned as a space tug boat. This version was about 4.5' thick and had to weight under 200 lbs. Seen here in construction the thrusters were vacuum formed. John Haslam and I built the mock up. He designed the aluminum frame.

UNIVERSAL INSTRUMENTS - 4 TASK AUTOMATED WORK CELL. THIS IS A FOAM CORE, WOOD AND ACRYLIC MOCK UP.
The OverNight Transport was Exceptional
This foam core model was built in the tiny shop at BOLT of Ian Cunningham's concept of the Universal Instrument's Work cell. Universal Instruments used this full size mock up as the executive approval to move into the next stage of engineering. I managed the customer relation and project.

ANDI OTG III PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE MOCK UP
A Fed Ex box, Foam Core scraps and Hot Glue
The goal was to cost and size reduce the ANDI OTG III (later to become the ANDI GO. This full size mock up was the key tool in the engineering and management review session. The layout changed later but the size stayed the same. This simple mock up got a very positive response from AOS decision team.
MANGING THE DIGITAL WORKFLOW
Delivering the ground breaking innovation requires using the right tools at the right time.
Good products are made of more than a CAD program and a 3D printer. It takes hard work and the right team of people.
Peter Drucker said: "There is nothing quite so useless as doing with great efficiency something that should not be done at all."

CONCEPT IDEATION
The foundation of innovation and the home of Design Thinking
Developing the right concept is essential to product success. Applying Design Thinking to the user's needs provides a solid start.

REFINEMENT AND ENGINEERING
Realizing great ideas on the path to efficient engineering
Great ideas can only become a powerful product if the right engineers on on the project. I have been fortunate to work with some of the best. Engineers like James Bullington and Bill Riley know the ins and outs of setting the stage for the digital manufacturing process.

DIGITAL MANUFACTURING
Bits become atoms
Today's manufacturing environment is about the simplified conversion of CAD data into the language of the machine. It may be a desktop 3D printer or an industrial 3D printer, it could be a CNC milling center like the one shown here.

DESIGN LEADERSHIP
Two Icons, One general thought.
As I continue my professional journey, I like to think of my opportunity being to make things that people .
